American Glaucoma Society Conference 2025
Waleed Kojan, a medical student at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, has been collaborating with Dr. Al-Aswad and the OPTIC Lab team on a research project titled "Assessing Glaucoma Specialist Referrals by Chatbots (generative AI)." His abstract was accepted by the American Glaucoma Society for a poster presentation at the 2025 conference in Washington DC. The OPTIC Lab looks forward to more collaborative research projects across institutions!
On October 4th, 2024, the PRECISE Center hosted the PRECISE Industry Day, celebrating its 16th anniversary. Dr. Lama Al-Aswad was a moderator on the panel "Driving Adaptive AI Collaboration: Navigating Innovation in Industry, Healthcare, and Regulatory Spheres." She drove the discussion between Xiaoying Wu, Ravi Krishnan, and Amitha Domalpally, who explored the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in various sectors with a special focus on ophthalmology. The prompts tackled critical issues such as data sharing, interoperability standards, and patient safety. A big thank you to the panelists who brought their expertise to the discussion!
